To Do’s

  • Dave will draft About page text as well as a rights note statement that will apply to all of the scenarios. We can provide the link (not a hyperlink) to the About page from within the rights note.
  • Maggie will send Laura the three items in the first batch that don’t have rights statuses in the spreadsheet.
  • Maggie/Craig will check with Noah re: aspace_ids for first batch.
  • Craig/Laura will contact JJ/Michele to get confirmation of the CC license.
  • Laura will revisit items labeled as 'Copyright Undetermined' to see if one of the other rights statuses apply.

Notes:

On About page – include more information about the copyright status of Radio Haiti. Talk about the process, fair use, request for more info from potential rights holders.

YouTube: Use of songs is probably fair, but there may be challenges to putting the recordings on YouTube.

We can use the same CC license and Rights Note for all items except for Copyright Undetermined - it's possible they fall under the one of the other scenarios.

Regarding "Radio Haiti is not exclusive rights holder, other rights not cleared with rights holder":

  • what percentage of the recording falls into the ‘other rights’ category? --> ~less than 5%
  • use cc-by-nc-sa (same as others)

Chunks of books/plays: use cc-by-nc-sa, use statement saying that some content not created by RH.
