Any key Radio Haiti project updates to share?Craig and Laura
  • Trying to figure out how to update subjects before you go live.
  • Extension TBD - there is a no cost extension through the end of 2017. Library is looking for funding to match.
    • Ideally there will be one more year w/ Laura and a paid intern to create description.

Timelines/workflow:  how do we ingest and launch if description is not finished? All

Metadata due for the launch set: April 1

Data delivery TBD.

Topics languages:

  • plan to be in different languages.  They can be in separate columns or not in the Google sheet.  They will be merged on ingest. Semi-colon's will be the delimiter in the subject columns.

Metadata in general:

  • Subjects / Topics:  Can they be in one facet?  We combine all the values in DDR
    • as far as we know the subjects go in in the order that go in - however the order is not specified anywhere so if we migrated or changed things, the order may change.
    • Can subjects be grouped by language?  will be easier when we have the language tags.  Ideally would have english, french, creole - in a specific group.
  • Numbering in the titles - the parens are Laura and the # numbers come from the Radio Haiti naming.
  • Display label "speaker" not creator - important for political reasons.

Mock up Notes:

Itemness:

  • Part 1, Part 2 example:  like the blocks, it is very eye-catching. when you mouse over you can see additional metadata
  • Trial / Event example:  could be a super long list - do we display a few and then a link
    • Can they be in chronological order?  maybe - ordering
    • Could also aggregate on subject field that is specific to that event.
    • The trial makes the most sense to listen to in order.
    • This may work better as a single item w/ multiple items.  This means you would have one metadata record for the whole set of recordings.
    • Decision:  keep each file as its own item, display 3 and then link to the full set as a search result.
      • NOTE: Cory needs to fix numeric title sorting.
      • NOTE:  Laura will title these numericly  – Trial (1)
  • Copies:  "other versions" "copies" The labeling can be different than "related version" as long as the item relationship is stored separately.
    • Decision:  "other versions" we approve this mock up
  • Related / copies mixed:  Approve the version w/ both related items and other version displaying.

Multilingual titles and Descriptions

  • Titles:  If we go w/ Alternate titles, we will need to configure DDR so that alt titles get returned in the results.
    • Decision:  Alternate title approach
    • NOTE:  Craig / Laura will need to indicate which title is the main title

Dates:

  • Small configuration changes can be made right now
  • Maggie needs time to work on the metadata - up to 1 month.
  • Have a configuration ready to review at the end of May
  • Metadata for the first set on April 1
  • Ingest timeline TBD
